Welcome to CoraBieler.com
Cora was recently featured in Orange County Jewish Life where she was
haled as a "prolific, professional artist." (see below) She paints
scenes of both the secular and Jewish worlds.
As long as Cora Bieler can remember, she has been surrounded by art as well as creating. Her mother is a professional artist who painted and taught. Cora didn’t think she would be a professional artist herself, but she found taking art classes as she traveled the world both interesting and enjoyable.
She studied Chinese brush painting while a Peace Corps volunteer in Korea, and at the Instituto de Bella Arts in Costa Rica. “I drew my way through Europe,” she says. In Paris she was invited to join a an art studio, a kind of artists’ collective, where her sketches, like that of the Seine, would later be sold as street art....
Today Bieler is a prolific, professional artist whose depth of knowledge about color is apparent when you see the vibrancy of her work. The dynamic colors and content of her paintings document the Jewish cultural experience and capture the essence of Jewish ritual.
Bieler wanted a visual record of Jewish cultural events and rites of passage, things that she loves that couldn’t be documented in photographs because they were held on Shabbos. That was how she decided to paint them. Some are inspired by actual events, including weddings and synagogue services she attended; others are synthesized from a number of similar events. Bieler
calls her painting style, “contemporary interpretive.”
